Vertical Gardening Best Practices

Water from the top: In stacked systems, water the top tier and let it cascade down. This prevents dry pockets in upper levels.

Choose the right crops: Indeterminate tomatoes, pole beans, peas, cucumbers, and vining squash are natural climbers. Bush varieties do not work vertically without support.

Prune for airflow: Dense vertical plantings trap humidity. Remove lower leaves and suckers to improve airflow and reduce fungal diseases.
